"There is no guessing anymore," said Dru Laws, Production Engineering
Manager at United States rotational molders, Mity-Lite Inc. He added:
"Every molding hits the same temperature at the same stage every time,
automatically. We are one step closer to eliminating operator error and
accommodating for changes in ambient conditions." His comments followed
the second installation of 493K's 'K-Kontrol (Gen 2)' at Mity-Lite in
Utah.
Mity-Lite scooped several prizes at the Association of Rotational
Molders International Conference in October 2004 with their super flat
IntelliCORE tables. Their success at the conference, and their high
level of peer approval, has encouraged the company to create a new
product development strategy which focuses on the high technology
portion of the rotomolding market.
Dr. Gareth McDowell, Managing Director of United Kingdom based
rotational molding engineers 493K said: "Once Mity-Lite decided to
proceed with the second purchase of K-Kontrol, in-house preparations for
the installation were maintained at a minimum. The pre-installation
work required the drilling of only one mounting hole, and an access hole
for routing sensor wires.
When this was completed, a 493K engineer was despatched to Utah to
complete the installation. Much of the installation wiring was done
prior to arrival on site, to reduce the block of machine down-time.
Mity-Lite now has two rotomolding machines fully mold temperature
controlled using K-Kontrol. Their in-house programmed PLCs now control
every stage of the rotomolding process based on mould temperature."
Production Engineering Manager, Dru Laws remarked: "Through the
development of Mity-Lite's IntelliCORE tables, created by a team of
skilled engineers, a new and formidable resource emerged, which
compelled us to expand into a wider product range. K-Kontrol has enabled
us to achieve this with the latest, and most efficient technology on the
market".
